Why We Recommend It: Great value and functionality!
Use: Marina Hang-on Holding and Breeding Box,
which comes in three sizes, consists of a simple, clear plastic frame
that hangs on the outside rim of your tank. No extra filtration or
heating source is needed because an air pump (sold separately) gently
exchanges water from your main tank to the holding box. It’s like a
little extension of your tank.
Here are just three of the ways you can use Marina Hang-on Holding and Breeding Box in your aquarium:
1. Holding or Isolation Chamber The
holding box provides an ideal space for isolating fish that are either
aggressive toward or are being picked on by their tank mates Being
external, it does not take up valuable space in the tank.
2. Breeding Box The
holding box is perfect for spawning and, subsequently, growing babies
to a safe size before being reintroduced to the main tank. The constant
circulating of the tank water through the isolation area keeps the water
quality consistent with that of the parent tank, significantly reducing
stress on the spawning fish and fry.
3. Acclimation Chamber
Finding
an effective, no-hassle method of slowly acclimating aquatic livestock
into a new environment is a problem for many aquarium owners. Although
not indicated in its name, Marina’s Holding Box can function
exceptionally well as an inexpensive acclimation chamber for either
freshwater fish; or saltwater fish, corals, and invertebrates. With this
little box, simply put your new arrival into the box along with the
water from the store, and start the air pump. Over the course of a
couple of hours, the acclimation process will complete in a slow and
even way, significantly reducing the stress of the move on the fish.
